Parcel Gilt Bronze Figurine

by D. Simon, French, 19th century

Cast bronze, gold, silver and marble

Private Collection

This Parcel Gilt Bronze Figurine is an example of the challenges we confront in restoring objects made of mixed materials with unusual surfaces. 33 cm high, she arrived at our studio bent over at her ankle, with gouges in her stomach, thigh, and back, abrasions on her legs, discoloration of her parcel-gilt surface, and her marble base fractured.
