Nocturne
Bronze with variegated patina of white, green, browns and black, height: 31″, 1991
The Greek sculptors focused on archetypes—idealized, powerful, dynamic but imperfect visions of man and woman. Athena and Aphrodite: aspects of the ideal female—smart, demure, self-possessed, full and robust. Nocturne combines those qualities with images of the universe as the womb of all life, and night—full of mystery and expectation.
