Who We Are
Art Object Restorers Mary and Howard Newman and their staff solve challenging problems restoring historic art objects including bronze, lead, zinc, pewter and spelter sculpture and statues, silver hollowware, French ormolu, and unusual objects and mechanisms.
Through meticulous research, Newmans, Ltd. employs a full range of technologies, spanning traditional silversmithing, chasing and finishing of bronze statuary and computerized rapid prototyping systems to reproduce and duplicate missing parts and recreate entire objects.
Newmans Ltd. restores antique machinery and weapons such as flintlock guns, vintage fishing reels, antique optical instruments and artifacts from non-western cultures made of mixed materials including glass, wood, bone, ivory, and shell.
For more than two decades, Newmans Ltd. has been a resource for owners and caretakers of public and private historic properties and collections in New England and nationally, and has served as expert witness for insurance and legal claims, authentication, and copyright issues.
